Helping you build your dream home with ease

Case Study Overview
This case study aims to create a comprehensive, user-friendly platform that addresses the aspects of construction management by offering guidance on each step from initiation to completion of a house while considering factors like budget, timelines, and post-construction support.
Background
In 2018, my family started building our dream home, but my dad’s health issues in 2019 put the project on hold, leaving me in charge. With no experience, I faced daily challenges and stress. This experience inspired me to create a solution—an app to simplify and streamline home construction, helping others turn their dreams into reality.
problem statement
Homeowners face confusion and uncertainty in the construction process, struggling to find reliable contractors, determine suitable architecture, and navigate complex procedures for approvals and material sourcing. The lack of a centralized solution leaves them unsure about costs, financing, and post-construction support.
Primary research
I interviewed two individuals for insights:
Debanka Halder (Age 28) was a college senior currently working in Construction Management company.
Krushna Sahu (Age 52) has prior experience building his home.

next actions
My next plan is to add features like:
Renovation Work: Where users can renovate their house completely or can renovate as per their requirement. Inventory Management: Implement a system for users where they can manage their inventory. With this feature, users can check what items were consumed & what items are required in the future so they can place the order & check their total value & quantity also.
Customizable Package Option: With this feature, users can add/omit any service from our provided packages as per their requirements.
Interior Designing: By adding this feature it helps users design their homes with advanced technology & affordable pricing models.
Designing a website for my application in the future & designing a dark mode theme would be exciting as well, giving an option more for the user experience
Designing the merchant side of the app.
learnings
Managing the design project through Notion was a new experience for me.
I realized that the problem statement can evolve after talking to potential users.
User interviews are exhaustive but I felt the more you talk with users, the more you can understand the pain points accurately. Even talking with the same user in another fresh session can reveal more information. This enabled me to document in a crisper way.
This being my first case study, I learned a lot about visual implementation, both in presentation and app UI.
I learned to consider every design decision from a holistic product perspective and gained insights into stitching features together and simplifying navigation. Pricing plan features also gave me insights into the business perspective.
As everything is iterative, I believe my current work can evolve further in terms of interactions and visuals.
